How this page works

Every source this site reads is named on the methodology page, with how and how often it is read. This page is the companion to it. Where a source's terms change, this page changes with them, and the date at the top changes too.

Spaceflight data

The Space Devs: Launch Library 2 and the Spaceflight News API

Launch, vehicle, spacecraft, launch site, agency, station and mission records, and newswire headlines, are provided by The Space Devs through Launch Library 2 and the Spaceflight News API. These sources are documented here and on the methodology page. Newswire items also identify and link to the original publisher.

Newswire headlines and summaries remain the work of the publisher named on each item. IGW does not write or edit them, and every item links to the publisher's own page.

CelesTrak

Orbital element sets for the objects drawn on the globe are published by CelesTrak and are used with credit to CelesTrak. What the globe shows is IGW's own SGP4 propagation of those element sets. Any error in a drawn position is IGW's, not CelesTrak's.

United States government sources

The Federal Aviation Administration publishes temporary flight restrictions, and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency publishes maritime warnings. IGW identifies the issuing source and preserves the time of its last successful retrieval. NASA’s image library includes both NASA material and material credited to other rights holders. The source listing and credit are retained; a government-hosted image is not, by itself, permission to reuse every work in that collection.

NASA photography is used under NASA's media usage guidelines: with credit to NASA, without alteration that changes its meaning, and without any suggestion that NASA endorses IGW. NASA notes that some images in its library contain material owned by others; where an image carries a third-party credit, that credit is carried through. A credit does not by itself establish permission to reuse that third-party work. The NASA insignia, logotype and seal are protected by federal regulation and are not used as IGW's own marks.

The FAA's and the NGA's own publications are the notices of record. What IGW shows is a copy, read at the time stated. It is not for flight planning, navigation or any operational use.

City of Starbase, Texas

Beach access, road delay and Mayor's Order records are public documents published by the City of Starbase and are reproduced here as public records, with the city's own wording preserved and IGW's derivations labelled as IGW's.

YouTube and Google

IGW's films are hosted on IGW's own YouTube channel, and the list of recent uploads is read from the channel's public feed. Where a film is embedded on this site, it plays in YouTube's embedded player. Use of that player is subject to YouTube's Terms of Service, and Google's handling of the data the player collects is described in Google's Privacy Policy. IGW's privacy page explains what that means for you.

Hosting and delivery

This site is built and hosted on Webflow, which serves its pages and stored assets. Parts of the page are also served from Google's public library host. The Mission Control sky catalogue is IGW's own data, stored with Cloudflare and served from Cloudflare's network. None of the three is a data source; all are delivery, and none is an analytics or advertising service.

Map tiles and the map library

The launch-notices map is drawn over tiles from OpenFreeMap, a public tile service built on the OpenMapTiles schema from OpenStreetMap data. The map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is published under the Open Database License. IGW recolours the tiles to this site's palette in the browser; the cartography underneath is OpenStreetMap's, and the credit line in the corner of the map is the one those sources ask for. The line of State Highway 4 that the map draws for a Starbase closure is read from those same tiles, so it too is © OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License. The same credit is printed on every notice card made on this site, so a card carries its map credit wherever it is posted.

The map is rendered by MapLibre GL JS, open-source software published under the BSD 3-Clause licence. IGW hosts an unmodified copy of that library on this site, and its licence notice travels with the file.

Loading the map sends tile and font requests to OpenFreeMap's servers, and those requests carry your IP address as any web request does. IGW sends OpenFreeMap nothing else, and no map request is made until the notices page is opened.

If you operate a source named here and believe IGW has misstated your terms or has not carried the credit you require, say so through the contact page and IGW will correct it.
